THE GUIDED PILATES METHOD

Breathe - Feel - Believe

"I don't just want you to do the exercises, instead I want you to really feel them. Take a deep breath, get lost in the movement and feel like you are being taken on a journey. A journey where you find more self-awareness, strength, motivation and believe that you are capable of far more then you ever thought possible. I want my classes to be a place you visit to break free from the everyday. A place where you can switch off from everything and focus on you!"

Expect a calm and welcoming class where Emma will guide you through a combination of different breathing techniques to calm and connect the body and mind, creative visual and feeling based descriptions to help you really understand the pilates movement and a very unique technique called 'Soft Gaze' where Emma will encourage you to switch off one of your main senses at different points of the class. Your Sight.

As a blind woman (Emma has some remaining vision but it is limited) Emma relies heavily on her other senses which she uses to her advantage.

"By closing your eyes or coming into a soft gaze (I give the soft gaze option as it is less intimidating when you first start) you switch off one of your main senses. Suddenly you are free to really feel the movement."

You begin to listen and connect to your body and mind in a completely different way. You suddenly start to build more self-awareness, this allows you to build on your strength, flexibility, mobility and so much more in a safe and effective way. All of this builds up your confidence. You feel more motivated and now you really believe in yourself on the mat and beyond.

The Guided Pilates Method wouldn't quite be the same without Emma's beautiful guide dog Archie who physically guides Emma to every class. Archie stays by Emma's side while she takes over the pilates guiding!
